Sojourner Kennel conducts backcountry mushing adventures in Alaska. We
specialize in hands on training and multi-day trips. Your experience
level and comfort are our main concern as we introduce you to the
exhilarating sport of dog mushing!

You'll start with one
day of orientation to get you up and running as a full fledged dog musher.
After a relaxing evening we'll get an early start to our jumping off point
for your backcountry adventure. You'll take part in every aspect, from
loading dogs into the truck to harnessing and hooking up your team
(with lots of help from your "mentor"). We'll even teach you how to
pack a sled for optimum balance and stability.

At the end of Day One,
we'll make camp at one of our rustic but comfortable cabins or a tent
camp. Either way, the cabin will be ready--minus the fire in the
woodstove--or the tent camp will already be pitched and waiting for us.
Nighttime brings many
new experiences to those unaccustomed to the Alaska wilderness. You
could hear owls hooting, wolves serenading, or the "sound" of the northern
lights overhead. A real treat to be sure!
Depending on your trip
length, we'll either travel the trail back to the truck or move on out for a
day of mushing and once again spend the night at the cabin camp.
At the end of your
experience, you'll be able to say with pride that you mushed dogs in the
Alaska Wilderness and we know you'll take home a part of Alaska and a love
for our wilderness way of life with you when you leave.
